Purple Heart of Childhood
I got my flu shot yesterday, one of several I have had over the years. I remember grand discussions in my childhood about which shot hurt most. Was it tetanus? or that TRIPLE SHOT? I will never forget the first time I left the Doctor's office without getting a shot with amazed relief. Polio was the great scare of my childhood, I remember the great power I felt knowing I was immunized. Shots were the wounds of childhood from fighting the never ending war against early mortality. Keep stabbin' Brooke!

Here are some of my immunizations what are yours?
Polio – Salk and Sabin
Yellow fever
Triple Shot (Whooping Cough ? ?)
Small pox

I came to late for measles and mumps shots. I also remember Booster shots. Since I have never had Boosterism, they must have worked. I expect cheerleaders never had their Booster shots. So sad.

Current Mood: thoughtfulthoughtful

You know, I don't even know which shots I had. I had the standard set for that time and location, and I'm guessing it was probably polio, tetanus, diptheria; measles, mumps and maybe rubella, and probably smallpox?

And later in life I received tetanus boosters at various times, was immunized against Hepatitis B (working with blood products) and various flu shots after an episode about seven years ago that left me too hoarse to speak for several days and not able to sing for over a month.

Hepatitis A and B
And a flu shot every year since 2000-ish.

They give Haemophilus influenza, Meningococcus and a Pneumococcal conjugate shot to infants in BC now, but I think that came after my time. I definitely didn't get a varicella vaccine, I remember being taken over to visit my cousins when they had the pox so we could get it too. I don't think I've had a smallpox vaccination. I was born the year after they declared eradication.
