My sister is alive!
An odd thing happens when an older sibling dies. It is like a countdown clock starts in you -giving only the time until you reach the exact age your brother died. My sister passed that age yesterday and didn't die, and furthermore doesn't seem to be the least bit unhealthy.

So I tormented her with Peter's new Valentine's day song, "Scottish Love Sheep". She hated it. Life is good.

Happy Valentine's Day!

tracking the days

I was tracking Mom and Dad much the same way, with mom getting closer to her 80th than dad did. 22 days closer.

          Birthday Died Days SameDays
Dad 11/12/21	09/13/01 29,160
Mom 04/25/27	03/18/07 29,182 02/24/07

With mom's slightly older brother passing away soon after making it to his 80th birthday, the two surviving younger brothers of that family (76 & 74) are feeling like they might not make it anywhere near the age of 95 that their mother (my grandma) lived to.

My dad died 11 years ago at age 59. Since then, that's the age I've expected to live to (never mind that my mother is 76 and healthy or that my maternal grandmother lived to 70 and my maternal great aunt is still alive at 94 and physically and mentally active!).

And, yes, if I had a real-life sister (as opposed to a false one!), I can see that tormenting her would be my born duty! :)
