My rocket club SMASH had a regularly scheduled model rocket launch today. A seven year old girl, Sarah, brought her first model rocket, a Big Betty, to our launch. We found a B6-4 engine, packed the parachute, and loaded it on the pad. At seven, she only needed minimal help. The model launched on the first try, with only minor problems that were cured with the judicious application of carpenter's glue.
While the glue dried we borrowed a Baby Bertha for additional flights. Sarah flew it with a larger engine (a C6-5) and had the grand adventure of recovering the model from behind a building. Now five year old boy cousin had to get into the act and he launched the Baby Bertha. With great fanfare our club president announced the first launch of Sarah and cousin along with the presentation of official certificates.
Sarah's little sister, Amanda, suddenly took interest. She wanted her certificate, too! So, with a little help from big sister, five year old (excuse me, five and a HALF year old) Amanda launched the Baby Bertha on a A8-3 and got her certificate.
We're pretty sure we have dad sucked in, too.
