Retirement clocks
Since I retired in January I have managed to accumulate several clocks. One was the official retirement clock from work, another was a chime clock (Big Ben chimes), and lastly my parent's Coo Coo Clock.

The Coo coo clock was given to us by my Mother's father, Grandpa Andy (Emanuel Anderson), in the mid 1950's. And yes, the weights really make the clock and coo coo operate! For your viewing pleasure I will post two videos, one showing the coo coo bird, the second showing the weight and chain move.

Here is the 10 o'clock coo coo.

Here is the chain moving.

All this with no batteries! The clock operates about 5 days on chain length. Phineas Fogg would be proud.

Oh, wow! I haven't seen or heard that old clock coocooing since what must have been the 1960's when the mechanism broke down. I look forward to seeing/hearing the old contraption on Cookie Day.

It seems to be holding together fairly well. I expect it will still be operating when you make it over.

Neat!
What color were the pine cone weights when you remember first meeting them? (Whenever that was.)

And now I'm earwormed with a song my mother used to sing to me:

"Today the world is happy," the cuckoo seems to say.
"I'll sing with you tomorrow, for summer's on its way."
Cuckoo (cuckoo) Cuckoo (cuckoo) Coo coo coo coo cuckoo.
Cuckoo (cuckoo) Cuckoo (cuckoo) Coo coo coo coo cuckoo.
